Milking the cows in the morning

From yesterday’s walk: ants, probably Formica obscuripes, or thatching ants, tending their flock (I’m guessing a black bean aphid or similar species).

One Response to Milking the cows in the morning

  1. Pierre Carlès says:

Beautiful photograph. I feel however little sympathy for the thatching ants. I have declared biological war to the aphids who feed on my rose bushes. Ladybugs larvae do a wonderful job with them (those larvae are real sci-fi monsters !). But then, the ants chase the larvae to protect the aphids, so it is a fine balance. But those ants are definitely NOT friends of mine. :-(
